Well, another day is nearly over! After a full day's activities yesterday, all children were asleep by 10.30pm. Some were even asleep before lights out! This meant a very easy night for the adults. There was not much noise in the morning either. A lot of children had to be woken up ready for the day ahead.
However, after a bleary-eyed start, breakfast soon sorted us out. After the yoghurt, cereal and toast, we filled up on sausage, scrambled egg and beans. We were ready for anything! Just as well because two groups ventured to the beach to try their skills at raft-building, whilst another sampled bushcraft. Yes - they really taught us how to light fires! Two other groups enjoyed Ultimate Frisbee and making music on computers.
During the morning Mrs Charlton came to visit us and we had great fun showing her around the site and telling her what we had been getting up to. She joined us for lunch. Today we had a choice of Cornish pasty and chips, pasta bake or pizza and chips. It was delicious! But there was no time to rest because before we knew it we were off again. This time we tried our hand at Aeroball, indoor climbing, Nightline, obstacle course and quad biking.
Were were ready for dinner then! The choice was chicken pie or jumbo sausage, mashed potato, mixed veg and cauliflower followed by apple crumble and custard.
Now we are enjoying a camp fire with marshmallows and hot chocolate. We will definitely be ready for our beds again.
Welcome to our very own Year 6 blog. Here you will find out all about our learning. Enjoy!

Tuesday at Kingswood
We all slept well and were refreshed for the day ahead. Some of us took a little longer to go to sleep than others, but on the whole, we let our teachers have a good night's rest. One room of boys had to be woken up at 7am but the rest of us were up and ready for breakfast.
Breakfast was cereal, yoghurt, fruit, toast, bacon, beans and hash browns. Then two groups went and donned wet suits and headed to the beach to build and sail our rafts all morning. This was great fun and we did have a paddle in the sea. Others tackled problem solving challenges, low ropes and fencing. Whilst some of us tackled the balance beam!
What a morning of fun! After a hearty lunch of chicken in a creamy sauce and potato wedges or pasta bolognaise we then headed to the obstacle course, fencing, nightline and orienteering. Then some of us were let loose on quad bikes or abseiling.
Dinner was a choice of cottage pie or chicken quesidillas. Evening activities followed before a Trail of Mystery! Cocoa at 9pm before an earlier bedtime! I'm sure we'll sleep well again!

Day One - The adventures begin!
Year 6 have been delving into Victorian history on their
first day on the Isle of Wight.
An extremely early start for some, the coach left
Lee-on-the-Solent at 7:30am and hit a lot of traffic on the way to Portsmouth,
where we were just in time to board the ferry.
A lot of our adventurers were excited to make the crossing
because they’d never been on a boat before. A few were even lucky enough to try
their hand at steering the ferry with the captain’s hat (including Mr Seymour)!
A short while after arriving on the island, we arrived at
our first stop – the holiday home of Queen Victoria’s royal family, Osborne
House.
In three separate groups we managed to explore the grand
house, the terraces, the walled gardens, the Swiss Cottage and the royal
children’s home-made museum. Everyone (even the adults) were amazed at how big
the Swiss Cottage was, considering it was supposed to be a back garden
playhouse for the children!
Since arriving at Kingswood, challenge number one was to
make their own beds – the boys particularly struggled with this! Girls 1-0 Boys.
Again, Mr Seymour arrived to help with Mrs Murphy on hand to assist him!
After dinner, we made our way to the evening activities,
including ‘Scrapheap Challenge’ in which they are attempting to sail their
cardboard boats…
