Saying 'farewell' to Kingswood!

After a very hearty breakfast of sausage, potato rosti and plum tomatoes, Year Six had to learn how to pack their suitcases without the help of their parents! Sian was requested to sit on Ella's because it was so full of unfolded clothes! Conversation at the breakfast table involved, "So, Mr Seymour, you teach us during the day, what's your real job? Are you a plumber or something?"

The accommodation was efficiently evacuated by 09:05, so the year group went out for a bit of play time before the first activity. The morning activities were archery, team tech (for the parents this was a lot like giant Meccano ), and the obstacle course.

As if the children weren't exhausted enough after four full days of fresh air, the Kingswood team opened the Abseiling/ Zip Wire tower just before lunch as an extra residential treat. Most of them managed to have a turn on one of these challenges and Megan and Kimberly were brave enough to complete the abseiling, which they were too scared of the day before!

The last meal of the trip was a picnic lunch of sandwiches, crisps and apples, which had been set up by the Kingswood team and was enjoyed by everyone in the sunshine (which the children were fully protected from by the services of Mr Seymour and his sun cream chase)!

The adults expected the year group to be tired out on the ferry home, but the children found a new energy just in time to be delivered to their parents (sorry!).

Everyone involved in the year six trip seems to have had a whale of a time on the Isle of Wight and I think we all deserve the week off for half term! Congratulations year six, you did us proud!

Thursday

Another great day on the island and our last full one. Everybody was asleep really quickly again and most children had to be woken up in the morning!

We trudged down to breakfast, which was bacon, beans and hash browns (same as Tuesday). after that we were almost raring to go! Another hot sunny day had dawned. Group R went off to the beach to try their hand at raft building. Others tried bush craft, quad biking and aeroball. Mason was heard to say rafting was the best activity so far but it tasted the worst!!! I think the sea was salty!!

Lunch was a choice of meatballs and rice or sausage roll and saute potatoes ( another chip shape). Pesto pasta was also on offer. Re-fuelled we tried our hand at fencing, climbing abseiling and archery.

We then had to gobble down our roast dinners to get ready for the disco. What  a shame it was our last dinner here. Josh now says he doesn't want to go because he is having so much fun!

The disco is now in full swing. You should see our moves!
